Fans of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour were disappointed to learn that Willie Nelson would not be performing on the initial shows. A few days before the tour kicked off in Alpharetta, Georgia on June 21, a social media announcement was made that Nelson, at 91 years old, was not feeling well and had been advised by doctors to rest for four days. However, it was stated that he was expected to recover quickly and join the tour the following week.

In Willie Nelson’s absence, his son Lukas Nelson and the Family Band took center stage while other scheduled performers like Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and Celisse carried on with their sets as planned. Despite not having a specific return date yet, fans remained hopeful for Nelson’s quick recovery.

The Outlaw Music Festival Tour continued without Willie Nelson in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday and was also expected to miss the next show in Raleigh, North Carolina. The tour was set to continue on Wednesday in Virginia Beach, Virginia; however, it was unclear whether Nelson would be back for that performance.

Upcoming stops on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour included shows in Syracuse and Wantagh, New York, as well as Holmdel, New Jersey. Willie Nelson is a prominent figure in the music industry who recently celebrated his 91st birthday. He has received numerous accolades over his seven-decade career as a singer-songwriter and has even been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In addition to his contributions to music, Nelson is recognized for his education initiatives and released a new book titled “Energy Follows Thought: The Stories Behind My Songs.”
