In 2024, the Sonoma Marin County Fair in Petaluma, Calif., declared Wild Thang, an 8-year-old Pekingese, as the winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog competition. This marked the fourth time Wild Thang had participated in the contest and finally earned him the crown after years of trying.

The competition attracted eight competitors this year, each showcasing their unique and lovable pets with special qualities. Coming in as the runner-up was Rome, a 14-year-old pug who also took home the People’s Choice award. Michelle Grady, Rome’s owner, expressed how beloved he was by everyone and described him as an amazing and personable pet.

Wild Thang received a trophy and a prize of $5,000 for taking home the title. The competition showcased a variety of unique and lovable pets that captured everyone’s hearts.
