At the Sonoma Marin County Fair in Petaluma, Calif., on Friday, an 8-year-old Pekingese named Wild Thang finally won the coveted title of World’s Ugliest Dog. This marked his fourth time competing in the contest and he had come in second place three times before.

Although Wild Thang was the star of the show, Rome, a 14-year-old pug, captured the hearts of the crowd and was named the runner-up as well as the recipient of the People’s Choice award. Rome’s owner, Michelle Grady, expressed her affection for her pet, describing him as personable and a crowd favorite.

Among the eight competitors in this year’s contest, Wild Thang emerged victorious and was awarded a trophy along with a cash prize of $5,000. The event showcased a variety of unique and lovable pets, celebrating their individuality and charm in a lighthearted competition that brought joy to all in attendance.
