As the US election of 2024 approaches, concerns about Democratic President Joe Biden’s confused speech and hesitant voice have been raised, casting doubts on his candidacy even within his own camp. With the parties having until August 7 to confirm their candidate, potential replacements for Biden include Kamala Harris, Gretchen Whitmer, Michelle Obama, Gavin Newsom, and Josh Shapiro.

Kamala Harris, who has been Vice President since 2021 and Biden’s running mate, appears to be the most likely choice in the event of Biden’s withdrawal. An established figure within the Democratic Party, she has garnered support and is well-versed in government institutions and media exposure. Gavin Newsom, governor of California, is another potential candidate who could unify Democrats. However, he has expressed that replacing Biden in 2024 may not be in the best interest of democracy.

Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, and Josh Shapiro, governor of Pennsylvania are also considered as possible replacements for Biden. Whitmer is known for her commitment to certain political issues while Shapiro has gained recognition for his work on various legal cases. Michelle Obama, the wife of former President Barack Obama has been speculated as a potential candidate although she has denied any plans for running in the election.

JB Pritsker, the governor of Illinois is also mentioned as a potential candidate due to his outspoken opposition to Donald Trump. He continues to support Biden’s candidacy at this time. As the election draws nearer
