In recent news, the creators of TikTok have launched Whee, a new social network focused on sharing “real life” photographs with friends. This platform features a design similar to that of Instagram and was first hinted at when the internal code of the TikTok application for Android revealed in March that a new social network was in the works.

Referred to as “TikTok Photos”, the new platform was said to be launching soon with a brand design similar to TikTok itself. ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, has quietly launched Whee for Android in select countries including Turkey, Thailand, and Australia. This news was shared by Artem Russakovskii, founder of Android Police, on social media.

According to the page on the Google Play Store, Whee is a social network that emphasizes “sharing real-life photos” that are only visible to friends. Users can take advantage of filters, chat with friends, comment on images, and like posts, much like they can on Instagram. With its familiar features and focus on real-life moments, Whee aims to provide users with a new platform to connect and share with their friends.
