WhatsApp has recently added a new feature to its platform that simplifies the process of organizing events through group chats. This feature allows users to plan meetings, confirm details, and track attendance with the people in the conversation. The event feature is designed to streamline event organization and make it more accessible for users.

The new event feature in WhatsApp Groups enables users to manage key aspects of event organization directly within the chat. Users can set the date and time of the event, manage attendance, specify the location, and even schedule a group call. Initially developed for WhatsApp communities, this feature is now available for group chats on both iOS and Android devices.

To access the event feature, users can click on the options menu next to the survey tool icon and select ‘Event.’ This opens a tab where users can add a name and description to the meeting, set the date and time, specify the location, and activate a WhatsApp call link for group calls. Users can indicate whether the call will be audio-only or include video.

Once an event is created, group members can view their invitation and confirm their attendance through WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption system. Event creators and administrators have flexibility to update event details at any time, such as changing the time or location of an upcoming meeting. This update enhances WhatsApp’s functionality by making it easier for users to organize events within their existing chat groups.

WhatsApp has rolled out this new group events feature globally for all its users with its latest update for iOS and Android devices. With this update, group chats are becoming more functional as they are now able to support events planning features that were previously only available in WhatsApp communities.
