West Virginia is set to receive over $4 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to enhance healthcare services in the state. Senator Joe Manchin made the announcement on Monday, revealing that three organizations will receive funding, including one in North Central West Virginia.

West Virginia University will receive more than $400,000 for vision research, while nearly $2 million will go towards increasing the healthcare workforce in Beckley. Additionally, over $1.5 million will be directed towards a grant program in Charleston that improves health services for individuals with HIV/AIDS.

Senator Manchin expressed his satisfaction with the investment, stating that the funding will advance critical vision research at the university and enhance health services in Beckley and Charleston. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, he vowed to continue advocating for resources to ensure that all West Virginians have access to quality, affordable healthcare.
