West Ottawa recently held a celebration for 23 senior athletes who have signed or committed to college programs for next year. The Panthers gathered for their annual signing day on Thursday, honoring students who have made commitments to play collegiate sports.

Among the signees was Chelsea Overbeek, a three-sport star who will be playing basketball at Alma College. Overbeek, who was named honorable mention all-state and helped lead the Panthers to the regional finals, will compete in the MIAA and have the opportunity to play games in West Michigan against teams like Hope and Calvin.

Some athletes had signed earlier in the year, including Gabby Reynolds, who won Miss Basketball and signed with George Washington, and Kalyna Pyk, a swimmer who committed to Toledo. These athletes are among the NCAA Division I signees, along with others like track athlete Quinten Tirado and Lydia Tubbergen, who will be cheering at Western Michigan. Desmond Chapa signed with Grand Valley State for track and field, representing the Division II group.

In addition to these athletes, Davenport University will welcome football players Carter Scholten and Nick Catton, as well as swimmers Ella McNeely and Owen Carlson. The Division III commits include students who will be participating in sports like tennis, lacrosse, soccer, and football at various universities.
