West Ham is reportedly on the brink of signing 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for a fee of £25.5m. The club’s director of football, Tim Steidten, has been working in Brazil to strengthen new manager Julen Lopetegui’s team. Initially, there were concerns that the deal might fall through, but sources have informed BBC Sport that it is close to being finalized.

Guilherme made his debut for Palmeiras at the age of 17 in 2023 and has also played for the club in this season’s Copa Libertadores group stage. If the deal goes through, it will be West Ham’s first signing since Lopetegui took over from David Moyes at the end of the season, with Steidten taking charge of the club’s transfer negotiations.
