On Saturday, downtown Atlanta businesses and attractions were closed as the city worked to repair water main breaks that caused water outages and low pressure. The problems began on Friday morning and impacted two downtown hospitals, a city jail, a county jail, and local shelters. According to the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management, water was flowing into the street from three large water mains intersecting.

Due to the city-wide water issue, some establishments like the Georgia Aquarium remained closed on Saturday. The aquarium shared that the water problems were not affecting the animals, but were impacting guest areas such as restrooms. Crews were working diligently to restore service since the problems began on Friday morning.

A boil water advisory was issued for a large portion of metro Atlanta and the public was asked to limit water usage to help rebuild pressure in the system. The department assured that the entire City Government was focused on addressing the issue and would provide updates through its website and social media channels.

The concert of rapper Megan Thee Stallion was moved from Friday to Sunday due to the water issues. However, her scheduled performance at State Farm Arena on Saturday was still expected to take place as planned despite her disappointment at having to reschedule her concert.
