Warner Bros. Discovery has secured a 10-year, $650 million deal to become the new home of the French Open in the United States starting in 2025. This move comes as WBD, the home of TNT Sports, is in the midst of negotiations with the NBA to retain some rights to games. Executives at WBD Sports have indicated that they are actively pursuing additional rights, regardless of the outcome with the NBA.

In addition to the French Open, WBD also holds the European broadcasting rights for the event through its operation of Eurosport pay-TV Networks. The company recently struck a deal with ESPN to sub-license first-round and quarterfinal college football playoff games for the next five years. WBD’s sports offerings also include the NCAA Tournament, MLB playoffs, the NHL postseason, and NASCAR.

WBD chairman David Zaslav has indicated that he may exercise matching rights to retain the NBA if it becomes available. However, commissioner Adam Silver has acknowledged that there is complexity involved in these negotiations and that any decision will be made based on what is best for both parties.
