Walmart has closed all 51 of its health centers as of June 28. The announcement was made by Walmart Health on April 30, which also included the shutting down of virtual care options. In late May, Walmart Health Virtual Care laid off 74 employees at its corporate headquarters in Phoenix and the company stated that hundreds of corporate employees would be laid off and many remote workers would need to relocate.

The health centers stopped taking new patients and ceased virtual care services on June 1. Walmart recommended that patients search for new providers in their area on platforms such as ZocDoc and Healthgrades. The decision to close the health centers and end virtual care was made due to an unsustainable business model, as Walmart cited challenges in reimbursement and increasing operational costs as contributing factors.
