Walmart has announced the closure of its 51 health clinic and telehealth service locations across five states, including 23 stores in Florida, on April 30. The retail giant cited an unsustainable business model as the reason for shutting down these health offerings that were launched in 2019.

One of the main challenges faced by Walmart Health was with insurance reimbursement, which contributed to their decision to shut down the clinics. As a result, patients were advised to search for new providers using ZocDoc and Healthgrades. Patients will have the opportunity to obtain or transfer their health records.

However, despite the closure of the health clinics, Walmart’s pharmacies and vision centers remain open to serve customers. This decision will impact patients who were receiving care from Walmart Health and will need to find alternative healthcare providers moving forward.
