Virat Kohli has joined the India squad in New York for the T20 World Cup 2024, arriving after his team-mates. It is uncertain whether he will participate in the warm-up game against Bangladesh on June 1 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

On Friday morning, an optional training session saw players like Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, and Mohammed Siraj taking part under the guidance of the support staff. Kohli has missed three training sessions so far, but the team management and the BCCI have made exceptions for him in the past. He was given a break before the South Africa Test series last year and skipped the England Test series at home this year for the birth of his second child.

The Indian team travelled to New York in batches, with players from teams eliminated early in IPL 2024 going first. Hardik Pandya joined later after a break, with players from playoff-eliminated teams following suit. India’s first match in the World Cup will be against Ireland on June 5, followed by games against Pakistan, USA, and Canada. The team will play in New York for the first three matches and in Lauderhill, Florida, for the final game.
