On a rainy and cloudy day in Lac-Beauport, Canada, Winter Vinecki earned her third individual win of the season in the aerials event. The weather forced athletes to adjust their game plans, but that didn’t stop Vinecki from coming out on top.
Vinecki had missed out on the previous day’s finals but qualified in the second position on Sunday. She almost lost her balance in the finals, but her score was enough to put her in sixth place and advance into the super finals. Chris Lillis also advanced into the super finals after falling hard in the finals but avoiding injury.
In the final round, Vinecki came out on top by performing a back lay-full-full as the only woman attempting a triple. This led her to her third individual win and fourth overall win of the season, earning her the yellow leader’s bib. The U.S. team had a strong showing, with five women and two men advancing to the finals.
After their success in Canada, the team is headed to Almaty, Kazakhstan, for their final World Cup of the season on March 10th after a rest and training period.
