Wide receiver Justin Jefferson has agreed to a massive 4-year, $140 million contract extension with the Vikings. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Jefferson and the Vikings have agreed to a ‘mammoth’ contract extension worth $140 million over four years, with $110 million of that guaranteed. The 24-year-old will be making $35 million a year, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

This news comes as a relief to Vikings fans, who were anxious about the possibility of losing their star wideout during the offseason. With quarterback Kirk Cousins departing for the Atlanta Falcons, the team will rely on veteran journeyman Sam Darnold while rookie J.J. McCarthy prepares to take over the starting position. Keeping Jefferson in Minnesota ensures that the team will retain a key offensive weapon during a time of transition.

Since being drafted in 2020 with the 22nd overall pick, Jefferson has been a standout player for the Vikings. He has caught 392 passes for 5,899 yards, becoming one of just five players in NFL history to achieve over 5,000 receiving yards in his first four seasons. With an average of 98.3 yards per game over this period, Jefferson has solidified his position as one of the league’s top wide receivers.
