During a recent discussion with the startup and innovation business community of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on June 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed that there has been a growing interest in Vietnam’s economy from leading technology corporations such as Google, Apple, and Nvidia. This highlights the potential for innovation-driven growth in the country.

Mr. Sebastian Buckup, Director of WEF Networks and Partnerships, acknowledged Vietnam’s remarkable economic progress over the past 40 years and attributed it to the country’s focus on innovation as a driving force. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that innovation is crucial for economic growth not just in Vietnam but globally.

Vietnam has already seen investments from major corporations like Intel, Samsung, and Synopsys in semiconductor chip production. Now companies like Google, Apple, Meta, and Nvidia are exploring opportunities in the country. With the semiconductor market expected to grow significantly in the coming years, Vietnam has implemented policies to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in high-value industries such as big data, AI, and chips.

At the discussion, the Prime Minister addressed concerns about data security and foreign startups’ role in transitioning Vietnam to a knowledge economy.
