Durian remains the leading fruit and vegetable export product in Vietnam, surpassing dragon fruit in turnover by 3.5 times. General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, noted that Vietnam’s durian is seeing steady growth in purchases from China, with some recent shipments being flagged for contamination with banned substances. To address this issue, businesses are advised to increase inspections at the source and packaging facilities to ensure no contaminated shipments are exported.

Vietnamese durian is advantageous with abundant output, availability year-round, and minimal direct competition with Thai durian. However, some recent shipments have been flagged for contamination with banned substances, negatively impacting the reputation of Vietnamese goods. To address this issue, businesses are advised to increase inspections at the source and packaging facilities to ensure no contaminated shipments are exported.
