Vietnamese dragon fruit exports to the US, UK, and Germany experienced a substantial increase in the first four months of the year, ranging from 100-266% compared to the same period last year. Despite China reducing its purchases, these exports contributed to a total of $230 million in dragon fruit exports, a 7.5% decrease compared to last year. This led to an increase in the proportion of dragon fruit in the export fruit basket, even though overall export numbers dropped by 40%.

China, traditionally the main export market for Vietnamese dragon fruit, declined with exports reaching only $162 million, a 19.3% decrease over the same period last year. Additionally, exports to Hong Kong and Japan also saw a decrease of 0.6-7.5%. However, exports to new markets such as the US, UK, Germany, France, Australia, and India surged during this period.
