Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards and WIPO 2023 Award Recognize Outstanding Scientific Works in Various Fields

In May, 2023, the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award and the WIPO 2023 Award were presented to outstanding scientific works. The criteria for the awards focused on key areas such as mechanical automation, materials, information technology, biology for production and life, technology to respond to climate change, environmental protection, rational use of resources, energy saving technology, and new energy use.

One of the award-winning projects was an innovative environmental monitoring system that monitors radioactive pollution in marine areas by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Anh and his team at the Military Technical Academy. This system allows for continuous monitoring of environmental parameters and radioactive pollution levels in marine areas, helping to minimize the impact of radioactive incidents on the environment and human health.

Another project that received recognition was a worm farming system developed by Dr. Le Xuan Hao and colleagues from the Institute of Agricultural Electromechanics and Post-harvest Technology. This automatic worm farming system reduces farming time while providing a patent for a food processing machine for worm farming products.

A project led by Master Tran Manh Bao from Thai Binh Seed Company also won an award for developing a disease-resistant rice variety called TBR225 that is resistant to leaf blight while maintaining high yield characteristics and rice quality. This rice variety has been tested in 28 provinces and cities with promising results, increasing farmers’ income.

The Vifotec Award has been organized annually since 1995 by several Vietnamese associations and bodies to recognize outstanding scientific works in various fields such as engineering, agriculture, medicine
