In Milwaukee, Vice President Kamala Harris continued her Economic Opportunity Tour by emphasizing the struggles many Americans face in paying bills due to debt. During her visit, she was joined on stage by actor and comedian D.L. Hughley as they discussed the steps the Biden-Harris Administration has taken to improve economic opportunity.

One of the initiatives Harris highlighted was the decision to no longer include medical debt in credit scores, which will provide relief for millions of Americans who are struggling with debt. Additionally, over $150 billion of student loan debt has been forgiven for four million Americans, providing much-needed financial relief for many young people.

Harris also announced initiatives to provide financial literacy information and assistance with applying for loans, as well as eligibility for small business loans for individuals with prior criminal convictions. This is an important step towards leveling the playing field and providing economic opportunities for all Americans, regardless of their past mistakes or financial circumstances.

The Vice President’s goal with the Economic Opportunity Tour is to showcase how the administration is working to improve economic opportunities for all Americans. After her visit to Milwaukee, she traveled to Chicago before returning to Washington D.C., but her message remained clear: we must continue to work together towards a more equitable and prosperous future for all.
