Via Cognitive Health celebrated the grand opening of a new Alzheimer’s and dementia resource center in Augusta, Georgia. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the beginning of a new campus dedicated to improving the quality and access to care for individuals in Georgia with Alzheimer’s and related dementia.

The new campus features a variety of facilities aimed at enhancing the lives of those living with dementia. This includes an art studio, volunteer hub, physical activities center, spa and salon, workshop tool shed area, and more. The addition of a walking track, gym area, and putting green will encourage physical activity among residents.

According to officials at Via Cognitive Health, individuals typically live with dementia for around 10 years after diagnosis. The goal of the new resource center is to make these years the best they can be by providing engaging activities and programs that promote cognitive and physical well-being.

Executive Director Jennifer Pennington emphasized the importance of staying mentally and physically active to better cope with the symptoms of dementia. The center aims to help individuals make the most of their 10 years living with the disease.

The grand opening event took place across the street from California Dreaming on Washington Road at 10 a.m. More information about the resources and services offered at the new campus can be found on their website.
