The Chicago Bulls were surprised when veteran forward Torrey Craig announced his decision to return for the 2024-25 season on his $2.8 million contract. Craig, who will turn 34 in December, had a strong season in 2023-24, averaging 5.7 points and 4.1 rebounds in 53 games while battling injuries.

Despite her injuries, Craig’s shooting skills, defensive abilities, and leadership qualities make her an important player for the team. Coach Billy Donovan has praised her veteran leadership and her ability to teach and guide younger players. With the loss of Alex Carusa, Craig is expected to play a key role in the upcoming season given her experience and skills. The Bulls need experienced frontcourt players, especially with uncertainties surrounding DeMar DeRozan and Patrick Williams.

DeRozan’s future with the Bulls is unclear as contract negotiations have stalled, making him a potential unrestricted free agent. Williams, on the other hand, will be a restricted free agent, allowing the Bulls the opportunity to match any offers he receives. With potential frontcourt rotations that may include Julian Phillips, Williams, and first-round pick Matas Buzelis, the Bulls are looking to solidify their roster for the upcoming season.

In the midst of free agency frenzy with players like Paul George opting out of contracts, the Bulls are keeping Craig on the team as they explore other options and potential trades including shopping Zach LaVine. The offseason promises to be eventful with multiple players and teams making moves but for now Craig is set to return to Chicago for another season as she continues to be an important player for the team while also teaching and guiding younger players during their journey towards success on both ends of court
