Emil Holm, the 24-year-old Swedish midfielder, has become a target for Lazio after Atalanta decided not to purchase him. Holm spent the last season on loan with Atalanta but struggled to settle in, playing only 1522 minutes in 32 appearances. Despite this, he managed to score once and provide four assists, showcasing his potential when given the chance.

Lazio’s new coach, Marco Baroni, is interested in Holm’s versatility as the team is considering using both three and four-man backlines. The midfielder is most comfortable playing as a right wing back in a back-three system but can also play as a right midfielder or right back when needed.

With Atalanta backing out of the deal, Lazio, Genoa, and Bologna now have the opportunity to secure Holm’s signature from Spezia. The midfielder had an €8.5m buy option at Atalanta, and a similar fee could likely lure him away from Spezia this summer, making him an affordable option for Lazio.

Spezia had been reluctant to sell Holm after he impressed during his time at the club. However, with no concrete offers on the table and his future uncertain at Spezia, Holm may be open to exploring other options.

Lazio has been actively seeking new players for their squad this summer and has identified Holm as a potential addition. The team has been struggling defensively in recent seasons and hopes that Holm’s versatility will help them improve their backline.

If Lazio can convince Spezia to sell Holm for an acceptable price, it could be a significant coup for the team. With his talent and versatility on board, Lazio could become a serious contender for next season’s title race.
