On Saturday, May 18, Vail Health nurses Karen Clous and Sara Dembeck were recognized for their outstanding achievements in nursing at the Nightingale Luminaries awards ceremony. The two nurses received statewide awards for their exceptional work in nursing administration and quality improvement.

Sara Dembeck, who serves as Vail Health’s associate chief nursing officer, was awarded the Nightingale Award for Exceptional Achievement in Nursing Administration by a nurse executive. Karen Clous, an oncology quality specialist, received the Nightingale Award for Exceptional Achievement in Quality Improvement.

Both nurses expressed their gratitude and honor at receiving these awards. Dembeck credited the exceptional culture and support provided by Vail Health for her success, while Clous acknowledged the amazing team and leadership at the organization for their support.

Out of 78 regional finalists, Dembeck and Clouse were two of the 15 Colorado nurses who received the statewide award. The four Vail Health nurses who won the regional award were all finalists for the Colorado Nightingale Luminary awards.

Vail Health President and CEO, Will Cook, congratulated the nurses on their achievements, highlighting the importance of their contributions to the organization’s culture and success. Overall, the recognition of these nurses serves as a testament to the exceptional care and dedication that Vail Health nurses provide to their patients and community.
