The UVM Health Network in South Burlington, Vermont recently opened its second apartment building as part of an effort to attract and retain new employees in a competitive housing market. The new building, located near Trader Joe’s, offers 120 units, while the first building on Market Street has 61 units.

As home prices in Vermont continue to rise, the UVM Health Network is offering two-thirds of the units in the new building to new employees to help them relocate to the area. This move is designed to ensure that potential employees do not decline job offers due to a lack of affordable housing options.

According to Jerald Novak, UVM’s chief people officer, the investment in employee housing has been successful in recruiting new talent. In fact, the network has allocated $9 million towards employee housing, which has been a key factor in attracting new employees to the region.

In addition to housing, the new building will also feature a child care center set to open in the fall. This move demonstrates the UVM Health Network’s commitment to providing a supportive and convenient work environment for its employees.

Overall, the UVM Health Network’s investment in employee housing and amenities reflects a proactive approach to addressing the challenges of the current housing market in Vermont. As the network continues to grow and expand, providing quality housing options for employees will remain a priority.
