The Uvalde Police Department has recently created a new position that focuses on mental health and family violence investigations. Detective Corp. Jessica Zamora, an experienced law enforcement officer with over seven years of experience, has been selected to fill the role of Mental Health/Family Violence Police Investigator for Uvalde PD.
In her new position, Zamora will be responsible for following up with individuals who have experienced mental health crises or family violence to ensure they are receiving the appropriate resources and support. She brings to the role two associate degrees from Southwest Texas Junior College, an Advanced Peace Officer Certification, and specialized training in areas such as the Southwest Texas Fusion Center, San Antonio PD Behavioral Threat Group, Family Violence Unit, and Mental Health Unit.
Uvalde Police Chief Homer Delgado emphasized the department’s dedication to enhancing police services and prioritizing the well-being of the community through initiatives like this one. He stated that Uvalde PD is actively seeking collaborations with mental health professionals, medical personnel, and clergy to strengthen their support network and better assist individuals in crisis situations.
By working together with community partners, Uvalde PD aims to make a positive impact on the lives of those facing mental health or family violence challenges. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to providing comprehensive and compassionate support to all members of the community in need.
