The Utica Notre Dame girls basketball team was a dominant force throughout the winter season, culminating in a remarkable win of the Class B state championship in March. This impressive performance earned them the prestigious title of team of the year. The Jugglers were recognized as the girls team of the year at syracuse.com’s All-CNY High School Sports Award show on Thursday night.

Led by All-CNY player of the year finalist Ella Trinkaus, who averaged 25.4 points per game, Notre Dame claimed the Section III Class B championship and continued their success to clinch a state championship victory. The team also benefited from the contributions of Maggie and Erin Trinkaus, who averaged 9.3 and 9.2 points per game respectively.

Notre Dame showcased their best basketball performance in the postseason, dominating opponents by wide margins. They recorded impressive wins in their first playoff games, with margins of 52, 34, and 25 points. The journey became more challenging as they progressed but the Jugglers rose to the occasion, securing a narrow 63-59 victory against Marcellus in the section championship, followed by two more double-digit wins to secure a spot in the state championship.
