The Center for Simulation Innovation at UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing has recently been recognized for its interactive courses and trainings. The center collaborates with not only nursing students but also other health professionals, such as respiratory therapy and physical therapy, to provide interprofessional education. James Cleveland, the director of the Center for Simulation Innovation, emphasized the importance of working with different school departments to enhance the learning experience.

Accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare in the area of teaching and education, the lab follows standards, measurable outcomes, and educational development to showcase the impact of simulation on students’ learning. Since its inception in 2013, the center has expanded to include over 20 stations equipped with tools like medical mannequins and virtual reality programs to aid in healthcare education.

Sonya Hardin, dean of the School of Nursing at UT Health Science Center, expressed hope that accreditation would not only maintain current standards but also allow for further growth and innovation in their simulation education practices. Student Benjamin Romero praised advanced mannequins that provide realistic cues and interactions, enhancing the learning experience for students.

The recognition and accreditation of the Center for Simulation Innovation signify a commitment to quality education and training for healthcare professionals at UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing.
