The USC Trojans are not expected to be in the top-25 rankings for the upcoming 2024 college football season. However, USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg has a different perspective. In his post-spring re-ranking of Football Bowl Subdivision teams, Myerberg has USC ranked at No. 17. This ranking is significant as Michigan, who USC will face in their first official Big Ten Conference game on September 21, is only three spots ahead of them at No. 14.

Myerberg acknowledged Michigan’s talent but also pointed out some uncertainties heading into the season, such as replacing J.J. McCarthy and the transition from Jim Harbaugh to Sherrone Moore. This matchup with Michigan will be an important early test for the Trojans.

Ohio State and Oregon are predicted to be strong contenders in the Big Ten, with many believing they will face off in the conference championship. Additionally, LSU, USC’s Week 1 opponent in Las Vegas, is also ranked in the post-spring re-ranking.
