In a briefing, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller discussed the ongoing diplomatic efforts being made by Washington to address various challenges in the region. He highlighted the importance of these efforts and mentioned that recent visits by high-ranking officials, such as James O’Brien, have been instrumental in advancing these initiatives.

Miller emphasized that these diplomatic efforts have been ongoing for some time and that visits by assistant secretaries of state to the region are a regular occurrence. James O’Brien’s visit to Azerbaijan and Croatia on June 27-29 was announced by the State Department, with planned meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku.

O’Brien also played a key role in the US-Armenia strategic dialogue session in Yerevan on June 11, where he called for Armenia and Azerbaijan to work towards a peace treaty and cease the cycle of making demands and engaging in additional negotiations. Additionally, in May, O’Brien visited Tbilisi amid protests against a controversial law in Georgia, showcasing the United States’ commitment to engaging with countries in the region on various issues.

Overall, the United States’ diplomatic efforts in the region continue to be a priority, with visits from high-ranking officials like James O’Brien playing a pivotal role in addressing ongoing challenges and fostering dialogue between countries in the region.
