On Monday, Andri Yermak, the head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine, made an urgent appeal for assistance from the United States to defend the strategic city of Kharkiv against Russian military forces. Yermak thanked Washington for the aid provided and recent $60 billion package approved by North American Congress but emphasized that this help was needed as soon as possible.

Kharkiv is a crucial strategic city with many residents still present, and its proximity to hostilities has caused concerns among Ukrainians. Therefore, receiving timely help is essential. During a meeting with Michael Carpenter, a member of the American Security Council, Yermak discussed these concerns and also talked about the bilateral security agreement between the two countries.

The Ukrainian Presidency revealed that both parties’ power and security documents already signed were taken into consideration during this meeting. Additionally, they discussed the upcoming Global Peace Summit scheduled to take place on June 15 and 16 in Switzerland.

Last Friday, Russian troops crossed the Ukrainian border in the north and seized several towns as part of a large-scale military offensive. The situation remains tense, and Ukraine’s safety and security are critical in ensuring international support, particularly from the United States.
