A new challenge has been launched by The Urban Farmer, a network of agro-ecological urban farms. Nestled in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, near the Gambetta metro station, the Urban Farmer offers a 6,700 m2 agricultural site where employees can strengthen their ties and enhance their sensitivity to environmental issues. At Urban Peasant, they provide tailor-made team building activities that raise awareness about environmental issues and offer practical workshops on the farm.

One participant, Raphaël Chalicarne, shares his experience of participating in a half-day cohesion event at the Urban Farmer with his colleagues from Omie company. The activities included a blindfolded tour of the farm, learning how to take cuttings, and a quiz on different plants. Raphaël found this experience not only educational about nature but also a great opportunity to connect with his colleagues in a non-screen environment.

Many companies choose to organize team building activities like this at the start or end of the year to enhance team cohesion and improve the quality of life within the company. The Urban Peasant farm accommodates multiple companies each week for these activities, as well as hosting seminars throughout the year in the “Ecology Pavilion.” The positive impacts of these activities on team cohesion and well-being are significant, as highlighted by Matéo Sachet, who oversees these activities at Urban Farmer.

The Urban Farmer supports itself financially by hosting company internships and welcoming school children for educational activities about agriculture and sustainable development. The farm employs over 30 staff members, including individuals on a professional integration path, with the aim of offering training and creating rewarding jobs for those with disabilities, long-term unemployment, or refugee status. The long-term goal is for each branch of the farm to be self-sustainable financially. In summary
