UNSW Sydney has once again been recognized as one of the top universities in the world, ranking 19th in the prestigious 2025 QS World University Rankings. This marks the second consecutive year that the University has made it into the top 20 institutions globally.

The rankings highlight Australia’s position as home to some of the world’s best universities, with three Australian institutions making it into the top 20. The recognition is a significant accomplishment for UNSW Sydney, celebrating its 75th anniversary, and its Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Attila Brungs, emphasized the University’s commitment to students, innovation, and partnerships with the community and industry.

Professor Brungs acknowledged the hard work that has gone into delivering exceptional teaching, conducting outstanding research, and making a positive social impact. He emphasized that this recognition enables UNSW to further its mission of improving the world through innovation, social cohesion, good health, and economic prosperity for all.

The importance of these rankings lies not only in their number but also in their global influence. The QS World University Rankings are compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds and feature 1503 institutions across 106 locations. These rankings emphasize employability and sustainability and highlight UNSW’s successes in these areas.

Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & Enterprise Professor Merlin Crossley expressed his excitement at UNSW’s high rating in these rankings. He highlighted the University’s success in sustainability efforts that impact society and the environment through education and research. Prof Crossley also noted continued growth of UNSW’s academic reputation as an institution producing highly valued graduates.
