In the Lowcountry, fireworks stands are experiencing a surge in business as the July 4 holiday approaches. One such stand, Hippie Grippie Fireworks, located near Goose Creek High School, has been operating in the area for almost 50 years, covering a total of 95 seasons combining the New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July holidays.

Hippie Grippie Fireworks is a family-run business with Grippie Lawson III at the helm. His brother, dad, and cousin are all involved in running stands for various family members. The safety of customers is paramount at this stand, with Grippie urging them to avoid holding fireworks with their hands except for sparklers. He emphasizes the importance of having fun while staying safe. Every year, people get hurt from mishandling fireworks, which can be easily prevented by following safety guidelines and precautions.

He advised individuals to be mindful of their surroundings and use common sense when lighting fireworks to prevent accidents and injuries.
