The revelation of Toyota’s involvement in falsifying safety data has caused a major shakeup in the Japanese car industry. The transport ministry has launched an investigation into the matter, and Toyota has suspended production of three models – Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio, and Yaris Cross. While the company claims that the faulty data does not affect vehicles already on the road, concerns have been raised about the use of modified vehicles during safety collision tests for cars no longer in production.

Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda has apologized publicly for the negligence that led to this situation, and Honda, Mazda, and Suzuki have also admitted to submitting faulty data. This has exacerbated the crisis and drawn attention from authorities and the public alike.

The investigation is ongoing, but carmakers are taking steps to address the issue. Honda has identified wrongdoing on noise and engine power tests, while Mazda has halted shipments of some cars and pledged to cover costs to its suppliers. Suzuki has also been implicated in the scandal with one of its car models found to have faulty data. Despite these challenges facing the Japanese car industry, companies are working hard to restore trust and ensure the safety of their vehicles.
