The UNM School of Medicine OB/GYN Department Chair, Eve Espey, MD, MPH, is excited and grateful for the partnership with communities in southern New Mexico to improve access to much-needed healthcare and work towards reducing health disparities across the state.

With $10 million allocated by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and the New Mexico Legislature for this project, the Reproductive Health Project is set to provide comprehensive care to individuals in Doña Ana County. The fully operational reproductive health care center will be a crucial step in providing accessible and community-informed reproductive health care in the area. Charlene Bencomo, Executive Director of Bold Futures NM, emphasized the importance of this initiative.

The President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains expressed gratitude for the important partnership with public funding going to UNM to support the new reproductive health center in Las Cruces. Adrienne Mansanares highlighted her organization’s commitment to transparency and collaboration, prioritizing these values over expediting the process to ensure the success of this community-driven initiative.
