A Precision Crop Management Workshop is set to take place on June 12 at the Jackson County Extension Center in Newport, Arkansas. This workshop will focus on how technology can be used in agriculture, including spatial data and satellite imagery. Attendees will have the chance to learn from experts with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

The event is free to attend, but online pre-registration is encouraged to ensure enough food is available for all attendees. Poncet, an assistant professor of remote sensing and extension pesticide application specialist for the Division of Agriculture, emphasized that this workshop will address producers’ current and emerging needs through precision agriculture. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to use affordable technologies and free tools to maximize benefits from their operations, regardless of their level of technological expertise.

The agenda includes presentations and discussions led by specialists in different areas of precision agriculture. Topics covered will range from an overview of precision technology and practical applications to discussions on spatial data layers, satellite imagery, geospatial irrigation tools, and more. The day will end with a panel discussion with participants and a lunch for all attendees.
