The Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA in Portuguese) is now accepting entries for the 2024 IMPA Journalism Awards. This competition aims to recognize journalists who excel in reporting on mathematics, science, and technology in a way that is accessible to the general public.
In this year’s edition of the awards, journalists have the opportunity to submit their work in two categories: Mathematics and Popular Science. Eligible entries must have been published or broadcasted between July 1, 2023, and June 23, 2024, in various media outlets such as newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs, TV, radio, and more.
The winners of each category will be awarded with prizes of BRL10,000 for first place, BRL5,000 for second place, and BRL3,000 for third place. This serves as an incentive for journalists to continue producing high-quality content that educates and engages the public in the fields of mathematics, science, and technology.
With a submission deadline of June 23rd , journalists are encouraged to showcase their best work and compete for the prestigious IMPA Journalism Awards. This opportunity not only recognizes the journalists’ efforts but also helps to promote the understanding and appreciation of mathematics
