According to new research, 76% of operators believe that technology gives them a competitive edge, but many feel that their restaurants could do more to stay up to date with the latest tech trends.

Customers are particularly fond of options that make it easier and faster to order and pay for their meals. In the full-service segment, a majority of customers are open to placing orders or paying the check using a tablet at their table. In the limited-service segment, 7 in 10 customers are likely to use a smartphone app to place an order, while 8 in 10 delivery customers prefer to order through a smartphone app.

By understanding which technologies customers in each segment desire and where operators plan to invest in technology, businesses can enhance the customer experience, boost marketing efforts, and operate more efficiently.
