The manufacturing industry is booming and, to meet the growing demand for skilled workers, Central Maine Community College (CMCC) has partnered with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works to launch a new 3-week Manufacturing Technology short-term training program. This program is designed to equip students with essential skills and hands-on experience, preparing them for rewarding careers in the manufacturing sector.

The program is open to all students, with no prior experience required. It consists of 120 hours of training spread over three weeks, with students attending 40 hours per week. Students will receive a $500 attendance incentive each week, and the entire program is free of cost.

During the training, students will cover topics such as technical math, hand and power tool operation and safety, operation of air tools, oxy cutting, track welding, basic layout, material handling, drilling and fastening, and other essential manufacturing skills. Upon successful completion of the training, qualified students will have the opportunity to interview with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works.

Those interested in enrolling in this exciting program can contact Kerry Fitzgerald at kfitzgerald@cmcc.edu or (207) 755-5229 or visit the CMCC website for more information on how to apply.
