On Saturday, the renowned World Naked Bike Ride, or WNBR, will be occurring in Chicago and various locations across the United States. The event is scheduled to commence at 8 p.m. and is expected to last until around midnight. The route covers approximately 14 miles as confirmed by organizers.
WNBR describes itself as a celebration of bicycle power and human beauty. The event aims to be a “clothing-optional” people-powered gathering that highlights the vulnerability of cyclists while promoting body positivity. Participants are encouraged to dress in body paint, underwear, or costumes, with the event being declared as “bare-as-you-dare”. While full-frontal nudity is illegal in the city of Chicago and considered at your own risk, many participants embrace this opportunity wholeheartedly.
The Chicago World Naked Bike Ride Facebook page states that the route will likely be similar to previous years; however, the official route will be announced on Friday evening. Participants must check in between 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., on Saturday. Safety is a top priority at this event, with officials recommending that participants stick together as a mass and cooperate with bike marshals in case of emergencies. Participants are also encouraged to assist others during emergency situations as well as leave no trace by picking up after themselves and ensuring everyone has an enjoyable time after the ride
