At the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the United States and Canada faced off in a highly anticipated match at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. The United States secured their first win of the tournament thanks to the efforts of Aaron Jones and Andries Gous.

Canada posted a challenging total of 194 for 5 after being asked to bat first. Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton scored half-centuries, while Shreyas Movva added a quickfire 32 runs off 16 balls to boost Canada’s total. Ali Khan, Harmeet Singh, and Corey Anderson each took a wicket for the United States during Canada’s innings.

With a target of 195 for victory, the United States had their work cut out for them as their highest successful T20I chase was 169. However, they managed to successfully chase down the total, with USA finishing the match at 197/3 in just 17.4 overs. This victory marked a historic moment for the United States in the tournament.

Canada’s total of 194/5 became the highest score by an associate team in the men’s T20 World Cup, surpassing the previous record held by Netherlands. The match between USA and Canada was an exciting start to the tournament, setting the stage for what promises to be an action-packed event.

In addition to securing their first win of the tournament, Aaron Jones and Andries Gous played crucial roles in helping USA achieve this historic feat.
