The tragedy has resulted in 143 deaths and over a hundred people missing.
Biden expressed his condolences for the tragedy and stated that the United States stands with Brazil during this difficult time. He mentioned that the US government is coordinating with Brazil for necessary assistance and that he and his wife are saddened by the loss of lives and devastation caused by the floods.
On Friday, American government spokesperson John Kirby revealed that an initial aid of R$100,000 would be allocated to purchase hygiene and cleaning kits, with an additional R$100,000 as aid. The US government’s support comes as Brazil continues to grapple with the aftermath of the devastating floods.
As both countries work together on relief efforts, they are closely monitored by the international community to see how they collaborate to provide support to those affected by the tragedy.
