In the aftermath of the tragic shooting at the Juneteenth event at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock, the City of Round Rock is offering mental health resources to individuals and families to help them heal. Annie Burwell, the Crisis Response Unit Program Manager, encourages everyone affected by the tragedy to prioritize their mental health and take advantage of these resources in order to support each other and begin the healing process as a community.

The Round Rock Fire Department’s Crisis Response Unit (CRU) is available during extended hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from June 16 through June 21. They can be reached by calling 512-218-5501. Team members will answer calls, provide guidance and education, and can set up in-person appointments if needed. The CRU is there to offer support and assistance to those affected by the tragedy.

Outside of the CRU’s extended office hours, the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Disaster Distress Helpline is available 24/7 to U.S. residents. The helpline offers support in multiple languages and can be reached by calling or texting 1-800-985-5990. This resource is available for anyone who needs it, regardless of when it may be needed.
