Chelsea has been dealing with some uncertainty surrounding the futures of several players, including Ben Chilwell. The left-back’s time at the club is uncertain due to ongoing injury issues that have plagued him throughout the 2023/24 season. Despite being under contract with Chelsea until 2027, there are doubts about his future under new manager Enzo Maresca’s management.

Chilwell joined Chelsea from Leicester City in a £45m deal in 2020 and was initially excited by the move. However, a ruptured cruciate ligament in November 2021 resulted in him missing the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery. He experienced further hamstring and knee issues during the 2022/23 season, which continued to sideline him during the 2023/24 campaign. Despite these setbacks, Chilwell did captain Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool in February.

The 27-year-old is not alone in his struggles at Chelsea, as Conor Gallagher and Trevor Chalobah are also facing uncertainty about their futures at the club. Gallagher, who is currently representing England at Euro 2024, is out of contract next year and has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. Chalobah has also been linked with a potential departure from Chelsea.
