The UNC basketball program has shown interest in four-star recruit Malachi Moreno for months and is now taking the next step in his recruitment. On Monday afternoon, Moreno announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he had received an offer from the Tar Heels. This offer was made after UNC scouted prospects during the open period.
Moreno, a 6-foot-11, 210-pound player from Georgetown, Kentucky, is ranked as a four-star recruit and is considered one of the top players in the state of Kentucky according to 247Sports recruiting rankings. He is ranked No. 27 overall and No. 3 center. The Tar Heels are the eleventh school to offer him a scholarship, and they are hoping to secure commitments from top players like Moreno to build a big recruiting class overall.
In addition to UNC, Moreno holds offers from several other schools including Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, NC State, and Louisville among others. Head coach Davis and his staff are working hard to secure commitments from top players like Moreno as they look towards building a strong recruiting class for the future of the program.
