In a surprising turn of events, state prosecutors have dropped the pending domestic violence charge against UFC middleweight Sedriques Dumas. The charge of battery, which was levied against Dumas following a February 13th arrest where police alleged he slapped the mother of his child, has been dismissed.

Dumas, 28, had live-streamed his interactions with the police on Facebook just prior to his arrest. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and expressed his relief and gratitude on social media when the case was dropped. Dumas thanked his lawyer Greg Whibbs for his support throughout the legal process.

This wasn’t Dumas’ first encounter with law enforcement as online police records indicate that this was his 13th arrest in Escambia County since 2014. Following this most recent arrest, Dumas spent 16 days in jail while in the middle of a fight camp for a match on March 30, which he ultimately lost by TKO.

Despite the recent legal issues, Dumas has already hinted at his next fight scheduled for July 13th. His opponent has not been disclosed yet but he is looking forward to getting back in the octagon and continuing his career in the UFC.
