During the Euro 2024 Group C match at Frankfurt Arena, players encountered difficulties with the pitch. The poor condition of the field was evident during England’s draw against Denmark, with large chunks of turf scattered across the playing surface. After the game, ground staff were observed collecting buckets full of grass, highlighting the maintenance issues that needed to be addressed.

UEFA has taken action to improve the quality of the pitch at Frankfurt Arena. The European football governing body has assured that a detailed plan is in place to tackle specific problems with the pitch and enhance its quality before the upcoming fixtures at the venue. Along with independent pitch consultants, UEFA has been collaborating with the grounds team in Frankfurt to ensure optimal playing conditions. Despite the challenges faced during Thursday’s match, UEFA mentioned that the overall pitch rating has shown improvement over the previous season.

The next matches scheduled at Frankfurt Arena include a clash between hosts Germany and Switzerland in Group A on 23 June, followed by Slovakia facing Romania in Group E on 26 June. The final game will be a last-16 tie between the Group F winner and one of the four best third-placed teams on 1 July. With a focus on improving the pitch quality, UEFA is committed to providing a better playing surface for these upcoming fixtures at Frankfurt Arena.
