UConn Health Leads the Pack in Connecticut Magazine’s Top Doctors of 2024: A Closer Look at UConn’s Rising Stars

In the May 2024 issue of Connecticut Magazine, UConn Health has been recognized as having fifty top doctors. Among them is Hematologist Dr. Victoria E. Forbes, who has been named a ‘Rising Star’ this year. The list of top doctors was compiled based on a peer-doctor survey conducted by Castle Connolly, featuring over 1,700 doctors from Connecticut spanning 72 different specialties.

Some of the other specialists included in the list are Cardiovascular Disease physicians Bruce T. Liang and Christopher Pickett, Dermatology experts like Mary Chang, Hao Feng, Jane Grant-Kels, and Marti Rothe, as well as Colon & Rectal Surgery specialist Dr. Eric Girard. Gastroenterologist Dr. Joel Levine, Hematologist Dr. Biree Andemariam, and Geriatric Medicine practitioners Dr. Karina Berg, Dr. Patrick Coll, and Dr. Jatupol Kositsawat are also honored in the list.

The list includes Infectious Disease doctors Lisa Chirch and Kevin Dieckhaus, along with Internal Medicine specialists like Dr. Elizabeth Appel, Dr. Laurie Caines, Dr. Varalakshmi Niranjan
